Question 14" wheels and disc brake conversion?

I just finished putting a set of single piston OEM disc brakes on my 68. It came with 14" wheels, and they won't fit. Did all disc brake equipped Camaros have 15" wheels? Is there a different offset for disc brake wheels?

Re: 14" wheels and disc brake conversion?

I have 15X7's on my front with a 4.5 offset with no problems. Camaros came with a 15'' rim with a 4'' offset with front drums. You need at least 4.5 offset for them to clear the calipers.

So basically you are telling me I have to ditch my 14" wheels and put on at least 15's?

Re: 14" wheels and disc brake conversion?

I have 14" wheels on the front of mine and bought my power disc brake conversion kit from Master Power brakes. I had drums originally. On their website, it said you need a 15" wheel to clear. I called someone there and they said some 14" wheels would fit. Different 14" wheels have different clearances.

The original STD 14" FC wheels will not fit. If you look at this, you will understand. http://www.camaros.org/suspen.shtml#Wheels
You Don't need 15' wheels, just the correct 14" wheels.
