Cool Wheel rub 68

I've just mounted P225/70R-15 tires on 15x7 rally wheels. The rallies have the standard off-set. I don't have the front wheelhouses or fenders mounted yet, but I was told that the tires I mounted will rub when the steering is turned full left and right. Has anyone seen this happen.
According to what I've read these tires and wheels are only 1" taller than the factory tires.

Re: Wheel rub 68

I would not expect thos to rub. I have 225-45-16's on 16x7 on mine and they do not, but they are short lil things (23.5" tall)

Those tires are 27.5 inches tall and I think they will rub.

I drove it for the first time in 1972 when I was 15.

Better looking than a '56 Ford or Plymouth.

Re: Wheel rub 68

Thanks for the info !!!!!!!!
I may need to back up and punt on this one.
I checked all the data for tire sizes in my 68 resto-book and the 14x7 G60 tire height was 26.5".
I didn't think that 1.0" would make a difference because I see many F bodies with 15x7 wheels. I wonder what gives !!!!!!!!!
Thanks

Jim
Once again my belief that birds of a feather tend to flock together seems to hold true to form.
I've had my share of F bodies down through the years. Some I was glad to get rid of, and some I wish I had never parted with. One that has been with me for many years is my (124678N car). At 53 I am now financially able to restore it the way I want it.
I slobber over want you've done to yours'. Great job !!!!!!

Re: Wheel rub 68

I think most of the 15x7 tire/rim combos you see are 60 series and not 70 series. A 225/60/15 is 25.6" tall vs 27.4" of the 225/70/15 tire.

That must be a RARE '68 with a numbers matching 383. Never knew the General had a 383 in '68.
