Wheel stud size

Today I took my wheels off to do a good cleaning and noticed the studs are 7/16" The Torque Thrust wheels have a somewhat larger hole that the 7/16" The nut is tapered and actually centers the wheel when tightened as long a no real weight is on the wheel. My concern is the 7/16" wheel stud strong enough for the 454 cu in. My engine is mildly modified and I don'tdrag race this car but do Like to play from time to time. 7/16 strong enough????

Re: Wheel stud size

Big 'ol BB stationwagons used 7/16" studs back in the day,..should be ok for your Camaro. Make sure they're long enough,..you'd like to see a couple of threads outside the nut.

Are the wheels hub-centric? Wheels that aren't concern me. Hard cornering that relies on the studs alone is not a pleasing thought to me.

Moroso 1/2 inch studs are about $20 per axel if you're concerned. Get the largest .685 inch knurl (46190) and press them in (assumes stock axels). The wheels are bored for 1/2 inch studs as that is a SEMA requirement for NHRA competition.
