American Racing Wheels

I have a 68 Camaro, drum brakes, lifted 2 inches in the front and rear. I am planning on running 17x8 American Racing Tougue Thrust ll on a BF Goodrich G-Force TA 235/45R17 on the front. My question is what would be the backspacing to give the wheels an offset?, not concerned about rubbing on the top of the fenderwell only when I am turning, That old school look!

Re: American Racing Wheels

4 1/2"-5" BS

I just ordered some AR's 17x7's with 4" BS 4 1/2" would have looked better, but not available.

Re: American Racing Wheels

I think the rear tire would fit, but I think the front is too big. 245 is about as big as I would go on a stock or lowered front end. I also think you've got too much back spacing on both the front and rear without modifying something. Are you running a 9" rear? 5x4.5" is a ford bolt pattern.

In short, no.

There is no way in hell you are gonna get a 12" wide rim out back, the biggest most guys go with is 9.5 i personally have a 10" rim but its a 19 so i have zero tire buldge.

Also for a stock sub a 10.5" wheel is way too wide hell even with the new dse sub you can only fit a 10" rim something like a 17x8 is more like it.

As for tires, a 285 wouldnt even fit on a 12" wide wheel first off. but id say go with a 275 out back and no bigger than a 245 in front.

There are dosens of guys with those exact sizes on first gens so do a little more research and your set.

And did you really lift your car 2" all around and are putting 17s on.... how exactly is that old school, more like semi-donk
