Biggest rears on 67?

OK. For probably the 1,000th time, looking for the biggest wheel and tire size to fit UNDER the rear wheelwells w/o rubbing. Would like tire to be around 28 in tall. Thinking like a 15 x 8 w/ a 255/65-15. All this w/ a 5.25 rear spacing. Opinions?

Plenty of room (?) inside - axle side, or outside quarter panel, or both?

Thanks!

Re: Biggest rears on 67?

I had 275/60 R15's with stock wheels and stock leafs...no rubbing at all. In fact, I still have them in garage if you live close to philly.
When I lowered, I switch to 17 wheels like chris.

I run 255/60/15's on 15X8 Ralley's. I also have a pair of 275/60/15 DOT's on 15X8 Ralley's. No rubbing at all and the rear of my car is lowered.

As mentioned 275/60R15's fit well.

Smile Re: Biggest rears on 67?

The deal here is that you can probably run a 305/45-17 b/c the lower shock mount will tuck up inside the wheel!!

My old L-60/14's measure a modern 298/53-14 on 9" wide rims and need 3.5 b/s to clear the shock mount down low! By going to a 17" rim, I can gain about 1.5" offset inwards to help everything clear the outer wheel well lip..

I just ran coil-overs and raised my car up like 4" or so and they were fine to me!! Old-school all the way b/c they were right at the chrome lip on the outside!!

PS., stock steel rim on my car is 14" x 6" w/ 3.75" b/s.

And fwiw, a 9.50-14, Firestone Town&Country M&S tire on my stock rims fit fine with my car raised up too!! They are like 29" to 29.5" tall!! My speedometer went from 70 to 82 mph at 3050 to 3070 rpm!!

Re: Biggest rears on 67?

Like PDQ I also ran L-60-14's on my old school Camaro and they fit the same as these 275-60-15's and I could get away with my car a little lower than this.

Re: Biggest rears on 67?

I used 225-60-14's on the front . Winding the clock back to my high school days. Back to when I used to get in to way , way , way too much cop trouble. But its ok I'm reformed now.
