69 camaro in need of slicks

I need some opinions or personal testaments on a good 9" slick that'll fit under my 69. Back spacing if stock 15 by 7 or 8 inch rims won't work, would help me too. Finally got the car with the new motor & new tremec to the track it ran a 12.82 @ 112.91. It was the first time I've ever drove down the 1/4 mile it was awesome. Now I'd like to try and get a little more grip. I ran it with regular street radials and it actually did better than I expected. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Whats wrong with ETs or Hoosier QTs? They will hold alot more motor to the track than what you have now and you can drive home when your done racing.

Re: 69 camaro in need of slicks

I don't know if I really wanna mess with rolling the fenders the cars in pretty nice shape. Do you have any pictures of the roll job? How much would you want for the tires & rims?

baracda, I figured why not just slicks right off they're gonna hook better & I don't think they'll be much more money. I have a car trailer so its no big deal to haul it, actually I'd rather haul it then I have a place for tools, compressor & so on. And hopefully it never happens, but if I break no big deal.

Anybody else? Tire sizes that fit? I know what fits for some won't for all, but any feedback maybe helpful.

Any preferences for make? Maybe one holds up better, but not for the price?
Something along those lines?

i HAVE 28x10.5x15 on my 69, they are tight but no rub, have 4.5 back spacing. Didn't roll the fenders either. Tightest spot is next to the shock.

Re: 69 camaro in need of slicks

Honestly, go with a Mickey Thompson ET drag radial (or equivilent). You can drive everywhere on them and you will be amazed at how they hook. I use them as normal use tires on my 68 and they drive nice, and dead hook at the track, 11.41, 1.57 60' in 100% street trim. Guys are going 7's on them amazingly.
Unless you just want the look of a slick, at your level (and well beyond) they are the ticket.
Whats you current 60' time?

I have 28x12.5 MT ET Streets on my '68. Lips not rolled. No rubbing at all. You may have a bit more room than I do.

Jim: Do you have a stock length rear in your silver 68? I was thining of using Vette 15 x 8 inch wide Ralley's out back and 15 x 6 up front. I have 15 inch centerlines on now and was thinking about getting back looking closer to stock. My car is a 67.

Re: 69 camaro in need of slicks

Im running some BFG drag radials on my 69. They are 275/50/15's . The measure out to 26x11.5x15. If your car is lowered this the the size you want.
The BFG hook pretty good but I think the M/T hook better from what I have seen. For a rim a 15x8 with 4.5" bs will work perfect.

As far as I know I have a stock length rear. It is an 8.5" center section and the tubes measure up properly. My tires are on 15x8 Welds so that probably pulls them in a bit.
