Question Need to verify size and backspacing?

I have measured and the following wheel sizes should fit my 1969 Camaro:

18x8 with 4.75" BS Front
18x9.5 with 5.5" BS Rear

The problem is that I spoke with Newstalgia Wheel and they said that I need to use:

18x7 with 4.5" BS Front
18x8 with 4.5" BS Rear

Now I am not sure what to do? Also what size tires should I use? Any insite is appreciated? Thanks

Re: Need to verify size and backspacing?

If you check with most of the wheel companies you will get similar specs. They play it very safe. Since they don't have your car to measure they advise sizes that are a sure fit. What you have you should be good to go unless there is someting wrong with your car (unrepaired or improper repaired colision damage, worn out body mounts, ect). As I'm sure you know we just about all agree on those sizes and several cars are successfully using them. Good luck you should be fine with your original order.

This is the exact size wheels and bs I just purchased from Newstalgia wheel last month. Talk to Shawn 'cause he's good to deal with. I got my wheels (BS Qualifiers) and they are beautiful. The back wheels fit perfect, however, a slight problem with the fronts . The left wheel rubs before full lock but the right wheel turns with no issues.

Just like JV69 said, if your car is square you should have no problems. I kinda figured I was going to have a problem somewhere due to my car not being square. My front and rear are a half inch off. But I can easily fix the problem by drilling and tapping the left LCA and putting in a bolt as an adjustable turning stop. No Problem.

To answer your question about tire size I went with 275x40 on the rear and 245x40 on the front. Shawn told me 4-6 weeks for delivery but it was actually 2 weeks. What wheels are you looking at right now?

I am looking at the Billet Specialties Fast Lane, very similar to the Qualifiers. Do you have any pictures on your car? Is your car lowered at all? I will be adding the TVS Hotchkis also?
