Re: Will this combo work on stock?

I am running 225/55/R16 in the front of my '68 and have rubbing problems. The problem got bad when I went to disks in the front. I have a feeling the offset on my wheels is wrong. I have heard of other people stuffing 235/50 in the front of a '68. I have Rally Wheels and wish they where 15in. It is hard to find tires for a 16 inch wheel, from what I have seen. What brand tire are you looking at?

Re: Will this combo work on stock?

I have four wheel drum on my 68. I was thinking about Yokohama AVID or BF Goodrich.

I'm thinking of maybe bumping up a little to 235/55/16 all the way around so I can rotate all my tires and have a spare that fits all.

Re: Will this combo work on stock?

I have 225-50-16's on cragar 16x7 with (a kinda strange) 3 7/8" backspace. They clear fine, never rub with drum brakes, changing to disks, should still be ok, not sure a 235 would fit, might get into the outside of the wheelwell.

I have 245/50-16 on the front with 4.5" BS with no rub. I did have to put button head bolts in the top of the inner fenders. In the rear I have 255/50-16 with 4.5" BS with no problem. The rims are VWW V45's - 16x8.

Re: Will this combo work on stock?

Those sizes will work. It's the bs your going to have to deal with. I am doing this right know. Except I have disc brakes and am going with 17 wheels, a much larger choice on tires in 17. Do a search on bs there is so much info on this subject here. It will either help or confuse you even more. Good luck.
