Is there a standard offset/backspace on

first gen Camaros?

I'm ordering 16 by 7's front and rear. They are Billet Specialties Qualifiers.

The tire size will be 235/55/16 front and rear.

What backspacing/offset will I need to fit properly? I think the backspace is 4 inches standard on the wheel but not 100%.

I hope someone can chime in because I'm ordering them this morning.

Re: Is there a standard offset/backspace on

i think 4.5 is what you need but just do a search and you will find your answer

and i willl strongly advise you to go 17 or 15, because 16" tire choices are slim
and if you think 17 will look too big here is a pic of carls camaro, the top one on the page has 17" rims

I also suggest 17s. If you ever decide to upgrade those brakes of yours, your choices will be limited with 16" wheels. Ask me how I know.
With 17s many more options. With 18s a few more.

Re: Is there a standard offset/backspace on

4" backspace on a 7" rim will be fine, you want 4.5 or 4.75" on an 8".

235 in the front of a 68 will be tight, and the 55 is kinda tall, that won't help.

Re: Is there a standard offset/backspace on

Thanks. I ordered the 16's earlier and they do have a 4 inch backspace. Those must be pretty common because the wait is only 5-6 days from the east coast.

I ran the tire calculator on 1010tire comparing a 215/70/14 to a 235/55/16 and the diameter is almost exact and it stayed within the 3% area. I think at 60 mph the speed was about 1.2 mph slower.

Luckily my suspension is stock other than poly stuff.
