1968 that started life and a 6 banger with a PG. Now it's a 350 with a TKO600, Moser 12 bolt, Speedtech LCA/UCA, ATS Tall Spindles, Hotchkis Springs, Forgeline ZX3P, C5 (Kore3) brakes with other cool stuff from Ron Davis, Vintage Air and soon to be Terminator EFI.

Re: Offset question!!!!!!!!!!!

you'd have wheels that stick out slightly farther..
or maybe they'd be in slightly farther..
i'm a dumb lazy American, so i only understand backspacing..

you don't plan sincerity.
you have to make it up on the spot.

wanna hear about 20 years ago when i was too smart to know any better?

Re: Offset question!!!!!!!!!!!

Need more infomation to properly answer your question. Type of chassis, wheel size and tire size would be a good start.

Smile Re: Offset question!!!!!!!!!!!

It's just easier for us dumbies to think in terms of back spacing is all.

We take a rim width and subtrack b/s and we have front spacing OR the part that stick's out.. This part hits the wheel well lips!!

B/s sticks in towards the center of the car................... This part hits either the subframe or rear wheel well inner wall..

He's just talking in Millimeters is all!!

A lot of rims are sized in metric dimensions nowadays!!

I don't like it b/c I'm old-school, so have to convert over in my head to inches!!! Make's me think tooooo HARD!!

Re: Offset question!!!!!!!!!!!

pdq-
read the original question..
it's hard to say just WHAT he is asking..
but i've always wondered why rims are made in inches- except for those Mustang rims in the 80's- but tires are made in millimiters.
and why do late model and import guys use the offset spec- which changes when you go wider or narrower and is stated in millimeters- to fit rims that are designed using inches..

you don't plan sincerity.
you have to make it up on the spot.

What year are you talking about? Is that positive or negative offset? What is your current offset? This should help everyone understand offset vs backspacing...
