frame mounts for v8 swap

Hi, I am fixing to put a 350 4spd in my 6cyl convertible, I bought new motor mounts today and for some reason I was thinking they would work with the 6 cyl frame mounts, they don't. I am also assuming my original Z bar would work, am I wrong again? Should I just buy repo frame mounts or is finding some originals going to work better? Thanks

Re: frame mounts for v8 swap

This topic keeps coming up. At some point, someone is going to give you some great links that go into detail on just what you need to know. I can't remember who it was, but I found out I had SBC mounts under my 396. The motor sat crooked.

6cyl used different frame brackets.

Did you buy "short and wide" engine mounts? If so, you want the 67-68 smallblock frame brackets. If you got the "tall and wide" mounts, you want the 69 302/350 brackets.

Re: frame mounts for v8 swap

Can someone who has done this please link the poster (and I) to a supplier where the order can be placed easily? I will be doing the same thing (except no 4 speed) within the next month or so. If I have the right #'s I would just order them now.

Thanks!

A small block Z-bar is 9 inches long. I never measured a 6 cyl Z-bar, so I don't know if they are same.

Regarding the style of motor mount you bought and the style of frame stand you need, you can see pics of the different styles on David Pozzi's site.

For some reason, I can't get on Pozzi's site. I tried earlier also.

Thanks for the link though.
