Big block valve cover "drippers"
I am just curious on this one, what do the valve cover drippers do? What happens when you put valve covers on a stock motor that do not have drippers? Again, I am just curious, as I do not recall ever hearing anyone say that they are needed, but the factory dosn't usualy install parts that a motor dosn't need.

The drippers "catch" the oil coming out of the pushrods, and it drips down on the rocker pivot. Suppose it helps lube the pivots, and also cool the springs. Wouldn't call them vital.

It is my understanding that they were only included with high performance BBC motors equipped with solid lifter cams. They also had grooved balls on the rockers. The 325 horse and 350 horse hydraulic cams didn't have them.
