When to change Shell rotella oil after break in?? Cam break in that is......

Do you change after the 20 min break in or should a guy drive it for a hundred or so miles????

Once a cam is broken in and the oil is changed, is it now okay to run straight syn oil???

Thanks!

still a good idea to do 500 miles !
because the lobes and cam will seat properly.
yes even synthetic wont help

Why do guys like synthetic so much? What's wrong with 20W50 Racing oil? I recall back in the 1990's synthetic was not even SAE approved (it was missing the SAE stamp on the back of the bottle) So why do you guys like synthetic so much?

Re: When to change Shell rotella oil after break in?? Cam break in that is......

once and engine is broken in synthetic oil flows better and last longer.
also its not prone to thermal breakdown like reg. oil is.
thus the engine last longer and tolerances will be maintained longer .

How about cam lobe wear and synthetic oil? As far as I know no one has said anything about it. I use Rotella as regular oil but you must change it just like any other non synthetic.
