Engine Rebuild Combo

Okay here goes... the short version anyway...
I am rebuilding my 350 and need some recommendations for piston/head/cam combo's.

Street car mostly once a week driver
4-speed
4:11 rear
headers
must run good on 93 pump gas

I have read some information lately on this whole "quench" thing and need some data from folks who have tried successful combinations.

I would like piston MFG/style or PN if possible
Head recommendation with CC size
Cam P/N if possible

Many thanks...

Re: Engine Rebuild Combo

How about a little more info, such as desired idle quality, is fuel economy of any concern, power brakes, power range, budget, etc.

Re: Engine Rebuild Combo

One more question...what do you have to work with now? IE head casting numbers, exhaust system, induction, etc? What kind of budget? Sensible, low, or "my money trees are in full bloom"?

Re: Engine Rebuild Combo

I am open to buying new heads. I plan on using my RPM air gap and 650 DP carb.
Total motor rebuild budget $2000

Re: Engine Rebuild Combo

I am in the process of a budget 350 build as well. I posted the package and combo on a thread " crate vs rebuild ". my .02 on this is an eagle 355 rotating assembly for $599 " Jegs" Dart 64cc Heads. The key for this build is the Cam combo. If you want a street engine with P/S and P/B and run 400 hp you will need a 450 to 490 lift Cam that will be in the 1,200 to 5,500 rpm range. I have been working with my machine shop guy to achieve this rebuild and make it work for every day driving.

Hope this helps.

P.S. my budget is at 2,000 and if you P/M me with your mail address I can send you a SBC performance DVD,,,no charge.
