I need a new oil pan. Can I buy just a factory oil pan or does it need to be 400 specific? Going to a 1 piece gasket too. Any help would be great. Brad

I transferred over my 350 pan with no problems although it's a milodon. I love the one piece gaskets.

All "drivers side dipstick" small blocks fit the same oil pan.

Just make sure you get the correct thick or thin gasket for the ends.

And which one would that be? Does the timing cover come in to play with the thick or thin gasket? Also recommendations for a street oil pan would be great.

All aftermarket pans use the thick seal set.

Re: Attention: 400sb owners

I couldn't use my old 327 oil pan in my new 400: the rod bolts touched the bottom of the pan and raised it by about 3/8" from the block rails.
