oil pressure

on a 67 with console gauge for oil press where is the normal operating position of the needle at 55mph---------

Those gauges can be very inaccurate. I'd slave in a cheapy mechanical gauge and see what oil pressure you have at various RPMs and then make a mental note on where your factory gauge reads at that same RPM.

General rule of thumb.... gauges read at the mid piont for normal runnng
Yes do as suggested above, calibrate you gauge with a known gauge that reads correct.
And do the same with your temp gauges

GM spec on oil pressure is 40psi @ 2000rpm.

Nov 68 Van Nuys. 327 floor-shift-auto, Frost Green and not much else when new.

i have had my gauge cluster out several times and had the oil line loose ---do you have to remove the air that is in the tube -------------thanx

Oh yes - just disconnect the line at the gauge and start the engine

The air won't hurt anything and will probably even work its way out over the years as most systems seem to do.

No..the air will compress up to the same pressure as the oil, not effecting the reading on the gauge.
