staring a 427 Engine

Hi I need to know if I can fire-up my new rebuilt 427 engine to make sure it runs before I'm to far into it. I have the flywheel and clutch,trani installed and shorty Headers, water pump. alternator but no pulleys, no radiator. Some of my friends tall me I may burn the valves because its missing the exhaust system so here it is guys waiting for some advice.

You won't have to worry about burning a valve with the shorties on it. I'd get the radiator/pulleys/belts installed so you can let it run a while.

Experience...... It's what you get when you didn't get what you wanted.

Defenetely get the cooling system functioning. Once you get it fired up you'll want to run it at about 3000RPM for at least 10 to 15 minutes and without a cooling system you will probably overheat it in about 4 minutes. Make sure you have an oil pressure guage hooked up also and watch it to make sure you have ample pressure.

Thank you for all of your advice. I'll let you know how it goes in a week or two because I still don't have the pulleys.
