Re: Which Vortec 350 for 69?
I would try to find an lt1, they are cheap, see them all the time around here for the 650-1000 range complete with harness, pcm, acc's. You can bolt it right in, use the headers you already have, if you do, tuning software is much cheaper, and they can be built up pretty cheap. The 5.3 route is about as economical as you're going to get for an lsx swap, but keep in mind you will need mounts, a $600 set of headers, unless you use stock manifolds. I doubt the truck manifold will clear the hood so you will need a car intake, injectors, water pump, tuning software is more expensive, serious oil pan modification, or light modification if you find a car pan. it will add up. I have done several lsx swaps as well as lt1 swaps. There are hidden cost. I don't know what you can find a vortec motor from a 96 up truck for, but I would seriously look into the lt1.
