starter question

I have a starter that sometimes just spins without engaging. It will do this a few times then it will work properly. Should I rebuild it or just buy a new one. Also what would cause this?

Re: starter question

Sounds as if the bendix drive is going out
Probably can get a rebuilt one with a warranty as cheaply as rebuilding that one.

yea, starters are pretty cheap, bout $40 for a reman. The thing is, I don't want to buy a starter that might go bad a few months later. These parts stores are getting pretty bad about selling junk nowadays.
