Question starting issues

I have a 1992 camaro RS 5.0 5 speed, At times I go to start it and get nothing, not even the turning of the engine. Then 5- 15 minutes later I go out it fires right up. Any ideas? thanks,

Re: starting issues

Could be bad electrical connections. Do the headlights always work? If they do check your starter positive cale and engine block ground to make sure they are in good shape and not corroded.

Re: starting issues

Is this the original key or a replacement ???
Have you tried cleaning the key ????
These cars havee a VATS system to prevent starting by a pass-key, you need the original to get it started.
Some replacement keys will cause a problem also.
The system will prevent the starter from turning once they 'lock-in' for @15min. until they reset.

Had this problem with the daughters car for a while until the dealer reset the system and coded two new keys ...

If a man says something in the garage - and his wife can't hear him - is he still wrong !!!

Re: starting issues

I have a extra set of keys to it and both sets did the same thing. They should be original sets due to the GM logo and casing around them. Now I did notice that on the metal shaft of the keys the raised piece surrounded by a black square are worn. Is that part of the key you are refering to that needs reset? thanks, will
