What's Your Gas Mileage?

I know most of us don't care, but hey, with the gas prices where their at, it matters more now than ever. Just would like to know what your gas mileage is? City and highway? Let us know your year, engine size and transmission type. Still trying to get a read on mine and will list it as soon as I determine. So far my estimate is 5 in the city and 10 on the highway.

Re: What's Your Gas Mileage?

Like you said, I don't care. I just fill it and drive it.

Cut some expenses here and there to fill the tank. No big deal to me.

And no, I am not rich, just have to deal with it and pinch pennies elsewhere. No big deal.

Re: What's Your Gas Mileage?

For some of us, it might be better to ask how many gallons to the mile. Seriously though, I get about 5-8 miles to the gallon. 30 over 454, 10-1, 850 Holley, 614 solid lift, Dart Pro-1 heads, automatic trans w/3800 stall and 355 gears.

Re: What's Your Gas Mileage?

I honestly dont know exactly. But its a heck of a lot more now with the TKO than it used to be with the Muncie. (Except around town/city driving of course) The way gas prices are now that TKO will eventually pay for itself.

I'm contemplating an LT1 or LS1 swap, can any of you guys with this swap chime in? What about you guys that have put FI on your BBC or SBC?

I get upper teens overall mileage (if I keep my foot off the floor) with my 67 coupe which is an HSR intaked 383. I've never checked highway as I drive some highway, some local streets and some track time at WOT (and some WOT on local streets and highways, LOL).

Used to break into the low 20's with my 69 ragtop with a QJet leaned waaaay out and the Holley TBI running lean IF and only IF I drove like a grandma.

Re: What's Your Gas Mileage?

I've gotten a best of 23mpg keeping it right at 60mph - 9.87:1 comp 383, holley 780 vac sec carb, 700r4 and 3.73:1 rear gears. Same trip I got 6mpg over 2 nights of cruising at Hot Aug Nights.

Same engine & trans, Avenger 670 (out of the box, just set the idle) and 3.42:1 rear gears I got a best of 21 and change mpg going up I5 to Seattle at about 70 and sometimes 75. Round trip (2000mi) with 3 days cruising in Seattle avg'd out about 19mpg.

No other around town numbers but I hang fairly close to the 4th gens cruising with club members when it comes to fill-ups...

Re: What's Your Gas Mileage?

I've never checked it, but my guess would be that I average about 12-13 mpg. L30, PG, mild cam, Edlebrock Performer 600 cfm carb, Performer intake, Hedman elite headers, 3:36 rear end.

'67 Marina Blue Convertible. L30, PG. All numbers match, 41k original miles.

Re: What's Your Gas Mileage?

Here's mine from brand new; 375 horse with 4:10's. This was I-5 to I-90 to Yakama WA. All at 'speed'. We didn't have traffic jams in those days.

The best I ever got was 18.25. Same setup only with a Hone overdrive. Farm country, rolly two lane road from Spokane WA to Sun Lakes at the EXACT time Nixon resigned. (another good thing)
Then the engine broke, I dropped in my L88 (actually built it again. Went with open-chamber stuff and LS7 rods. Got rid of the MT aluminum rods that my buddy dealer-racer sold it to me with) That was in 74. Never checked since.

One owner 69 Camaro,(yep, bought it new
