Ce Replacement Engines

In Camaro world, where do the CE REPLACENT engines fall? I thought CE stood for "Crate Engine". Turns out it stands for "Counter exchange" (exchanged at dealership and block stamped CE) the car I'm looking at is not a driver, but an investment so I'm concerned about re-selling if the CE are getting a bad rap. (it's a Z-28, 302) thank you!!

Re: Ce Replacement Engines

ok, but its not gonna be one of them fancy import beers... supposing you guys are right, this guy is selling a very expensive car and doesn't know what the stamp on the block stands for.... I'm not totally surprised though, lots of incorrect info out there in Camaro-world.

Smile Re: Ce Replacement Engines

Look..

I've said this many time's..

If a car doesn't have it's ORIGINAL engine in it, it ain't an original car!

But only one w/ another engine in it that happen's to be a CE engine unless you have documented paperwork from way back then that say's GM replaced the ORIGINAL engine under warantee! I think it's a TAD LATE for warantee paperwork to show up, MYSELF!!!

If the car is a documented Z-28 w/ a documented CE 302 in it, then it is a Z-28 w/ paperwork to prove what it is.

And anything else in my book is a CLONE and should be ADVERTISED as such or it MAY be considered FRAUD in a Courtroom.

pdq67

PS., I agonized over this same deal w/ replacing my long gone 350SS engine. I can get a correct dated, numbers re-stamped block, but it still WILL NOT be my engine to me so I went 496 instead!

And I have my old, ready to run, 406 on a stand and I am gathering pieces to make another junk301 so go figure!
