Vortec fuel pump question

Has anyone had a 5.7 vortec block modified to accept a mechanical fuel pump?

The "view wouldn't be worth the climb" to do it
There is physically no provision for the mounting, push-rod installation or last-but-not-least, the required lobe on the cam to drive the rod ...

Marine applications utilizing a carb. use an electric (Carter) fuel pump mounted on a small bracket down in the location where an early style block would have it's pump - this allows the use of most early lines and parts when swapping one of these newer engines into an older boat.
This might be an option for you if you're looking for something that 'looks' like an early set-up.

Re: Vortec fuel pump question

The 1999 vortec block appears to have the nessary mounts cast into the block. The mechanical pump mounting holes are drilled and tapped already. I looks like the hole would need to be machined to allow the push rod for the mechanical fuel pump to contact the eccentric on the GMPP hot cam. Maybe there is more to it that that... I am looking for anyone that has had it done. Thanks Chilli
