A few questions about a carb

I'm having a guy build me a carb for my 400sbc with vortec heads. It is going to be a 750 vac sec. He mentioned something about not putting a metering block on the back so it would not cover the vac fitting on the intake. He can build a pretty good carb.

What should I do:
1) buy a new holly street avenger 750 or 770
2) just let him build me one.

He has built 2 already for me on other engines and thay ran great.,

Re: A few questions about a carb

Sounds like you answered your own question. If he has done good in the past, why change. Or, is it you just want to go with a new carb? I like the 750 dbp for my BBC. But thats just me.......

Re: A few questions about a carb

Edelbrock makes a low profile fitting that will clear.

Re: A few questions about a carb

The edelbrock fitting will work with the vac secondary holley. The mechanical holley carbs will not clear on some manifolds.
