Will a Mallory HEI Distributor Fit?

I bought a Mallory HEI distributor for my small block (which is out of the car) and it looks too big.

Will the HEI fit in a original engine bay?

coil in cap hei's will fit in some, but most need some firewall "adjustment" to get them in there. You don't know for sure until you try.

If it does not and you know your transmission mount to the cross member is old replace it and it could get you just enough clearance, worked for me.

The only Mustang I'd ever own is a Fender.

Re: Will a Mallory HEI Distributor Fit?

I have a Mallory HEI on my big block and it fits just fine. It is a tight fit, but it should work for you. Seems some cars are different though. My friend has a 69 with a small block and he had to do a little firewall adjustment. Good luck.

Re: Will a Mallory HEI Distributor Fit?

if you have 302 or 350 mounts, then, no it won't clear.
if you have 307 or 327 mounts, then, yes it will clear.

you don't plan sincerity.
you have to make it up on the spot.

wanna hear about 20 years ago when i was too smart to know any better?

New body mount rubbers will help some too. My HEI in a 350 is close but I didn't need to hammer anything. It also was a 327 originally.
