Front runner comparision

I had my mind made up and I was going to call Lisa today with my invoice number to order the black anodized front runner setup by Vintage Air. Well, I hit a slow spot in the day so I started flipping through my summit magazine and I found a front runner setup put together by GM Performance parts. I am now trying to decide if I want to pay $1900 for the Vintage Air or $800 for the GM setup. I am really wanting to stay with the black look, I really don't want that much "bling" under the hood. But, I do want the compact look with nice lines. I don't want to pop the hood and somebody ask if the front runner setup is off of a 94' Chevy pickup, but $1100 would be money well spent else were on the car. So, if anybody has an opinion or pics of the GM kit on there car that would be greatly appreciated. Here are links to both;

Re: Front runner comparision

I'm in the same boat, got a 383 on the way and I'm worried about tossing belts. The GMPP serpentine system looks pretty good price-wise when you consider that you get new water pump, new alternator, and new power steering pump.
The only thing that I'm not sure about is the reverse flow water pump...will that work with my engine? And how the heck do I convert over to a 1 wire alternator?

I am also contemplating going with a black anodized front runner setup by VA. So what did you decide to go with?

I am pretty sure you can put togther your own thing using oem parts from wrecking yards.
That GMP kit looks ok but the AC seems pretty bulky. THE VA for me is seriously overpriced.

True, but time is my most precious commodity and I have went the wrecking yard route before. While its initially cheaper it generally takes way too much time to locate the desired parts (slim pickings at the local junk yards), the parts are used and generally I end up replacing something (more $$), and the in this instance I would have to have them sandblasted and powdercoated (more $$). I will either go with the GMP kit or VA with all new parts.
