Votec heads and dome pistons

Well I just pulled my heads off of my 327 and to my surprise I have dome pistons. They are small domes with reliefs cut for the valves. I was planning on using Vortec heads but I am not sure they will work with these pistons. I'm also concerned this will put my CR to high.

Re: Votec heads and dome pistons

It will deff pot your CR very high. Prob have to run race gas. It's always a good idea to check piston to valve clearance also especially with dome pistons.

Re: Votec heads and dome pistons

It depends on the dome, but I'm guessing it's not going to work. Check out the pics:

The 'point' on the quench surface coming down between the valves may interfere with the piston dome in a true Vortec head.
