do rod end stamped numbers go on inside???

Having a brain fart. Do the stamped numbers on the rod ends which tell what piston goes in what hole usually go on the inside or to the out side of the block????

Out towards the oil pan rail. That is if whoever numbered them did it correctly. The numbers should be on the same side of the rod and the bearing "tang slots". They do not come numbered from the factory.

as Bill said, tangs out. If numbered correctly then the numbers out also.

NOTE the Chamfer of the Rod Journal always faces toward the Crank Counter Weights not the other Connecting rod. This also confirms that you do not have the cap on reversed.

Another thing to remember (and I've disassembled engines that know-it-all's assembled incorrectly).. The oil slingers go adjacent to the crankshaft throws, not towards one another...
