should water be dripping from here?????

Getting ready to fire my motor this morning. I'm filling up the cooling system with water. I decided to pour water through my manifold to make sure that the block is full when I fire. I noticed that water is trickling out a little hole at the bottom of the water pump, below the snout. I do know the hole is supposed to be there but should water come out it if I'm pouring water through the manifold??? I realize water is going down the bypass and directly into the pump. Is that it?? Thanks!

I'm excited. Nothing like that little knot in your tummy when you pull the trigger for the first time!!!!!!

That's a weep hole. If there is water coming out of it you have an internal seal leaking in your pump. You might see the leak clear up by rotating the pump to work the seal some.

No it shouldn't be leaking from there.

You need a new water pump. Replace it.

If the water pump is new, start it, let it get up to running temp. It (the seal) might seat and stop...if not, change it out with a good quality replacement...good luck

Re: should water be dripping from here?????

yeah that hole is like an early warning system on those water pumps usually water will drip out of there when the water pump starts to wear out.

Sh-t, Brake Clean isn't strong enough to bother anything anymore!!

If it was sprayed down w/ good old Methylene Chloride, then I'd agree it ate the seal up.
