Need to raise my aire cleaner 2"

I need to raise the air cleaner housing 2-3" on my daily driver (sorry, it's not a chevy this time). I want to resuse the factory air cleaner so I can also reuse the factory cold air setup on it, but after I added the Mallory HEI (which is way bigger and taller than the stock distributor), my air cleaner no longer fits. Short of changing the distributor (which I don't want to do if I can avoid it), my only other options are either a much smaller diameter air filter (like 9" or less), or one of them cheapo foam air filters. I can find up to about 3/4" tall air cleaner spacers, but it isn't near enough. Any idea's where I could find such an animal?

Re: Need to raise my aire cleaner 2"

Assuming this is an Edelbrock, Holley...etc, all you need to do is go to a local performance parts house and get a spacer. They make them in a variety of sizes and they go between your air cleaner and carb. I had to use one on my performer because the drop base hit the choke. 2" spacer and it was perfect. Didn't look too bad either!!!

If u dont have a lathe, head down to the local machine shop and get them to turn one down..its a small quick fill in job
I turned mine down for a custom air cleaner height.

My Spelling is not incorrect...it is creative

Phenolic spacer between the carb and manifold and a air cleaner base spacer will get you the height you want...
