What Radiator and Fan Combo?

Hi All,

Just finished installing a new 350 / 435HP from Engine Factory in my 69SS 4 Speed.

What radiator / fan combo should I get and what's the best price? It sounds like Aluminum radiator with Electric, right? How many rows? 1 or 2 fans?

Help! Oh, by the way, it's a driver and I don't want any overheating issues.

Thanks in advance!

Mike

Re: What Radiator and Fan Combo?

I've always had good luck with a flex-a-lite and a 4 core......keeps it looking stock (if that's what you want).

Re: What Radiator and Fan Combo?

Pastuki, go to the heating and cooling section and do a search in that section. Enter entropy and dual fans. There is a thread that I started. It has pics of my set up. The radiator is an aluminum Entropy w/dual spal fans (purchased off of ebay). It is a BB size radiator but will work with SB also. Mounts to your existing radiator support no mods, just use the mounting holes to the left of where the SB radiator mounts are. Use 1/4" size well nuts purchased from your local Ace store. You will have to use a 68 SB w/AC upper hose. Also purchase the fan wiring harness from them. Total cost will depend on shipping. They ship out of the Chicago area. From there to my house (Iowa) total cost was $720. I run a 180* thermostat. My car has not run any hotter than 190* going down the highway @ 70 mph. Running around town runs between 180-185.

Re: What Radiator and Fan Combo?

I run a BeCool 2 row for a big block. It is 2" wider than a small block. I had to open up the core support in order to allow air flow over the entire core, but that was easy and only took me 45 minutes. I also run a Flex-A-Lite Black Magic #180 electric fan. It produces 3300cfm and comes with its own shroud. My car can sit in 100* weather and idle all day long and NEVER go above 200*(fan turn on temp). Oh, and whatever you do, do not paint the core black. The black will attract heat and not allow the fins to bleed off the heat like it's supposed to. I actually think the look of aluminum through the grille is pretty cool.

Here is the fan:

and here is the radiator:

Here is the setup I am going to install in my 69. This is the Entropy unit everyone raves about:

Re: What Radiator and Fan Combo?

The Ultimate setup would be a Ron Davis radiator with dual 13" Spal Fans, Stewart Components water pump and Robert Shaw high flow thermostat.

Pricey thou, but if you want max cooling...
