Anyone in Colorado, or other areas at higher elevations, with a 302? I am wondering what your vacuum reading is at idle, and how you have tuned it to get that vacuum reading. I have my initial timing at 17 degrees, valves lashed at .030 warm. I installed the vc-1810 advance can. I am getting 6 1/2" of vacuum at idle. Just wondering what other people are getting and if I have a problem.
Thanks, Greg
After a lot of tweaking, mostly carb, I was able to get 8"-10" on a good day with a fresh DZ motor.
Of course the timing should be set just shy of detonation, I was around 20 intitial and 39 total at about 2700 RPM. Also, 110 octane race gas mixed 50/50 with pump premium helped, but at $8.00 a gallon, that's a concern.
Might look into an air cleaner top windshield washer type injection of E85 under load??
