Re: L78???

BLOCK: 70 to 72 - CRANK: 6223-396,402,427,forged,1053 steel - PISTONS:3969974 - RODS: 3/8 dimple rods #3242 - Square port heads 3964291 - OEM aluminum intake 3963569(I believe it should have the Winters Snowflake). If suffix code is CKO it would be a 375Hp Manual Tranny with 11" flywheel. Check Date Codes for Month/Day/Year. I had a L78 from a 66 Vette that I traded for a 454 which I run now. That deal was considered a $400 exchange, way back then, but kind of wish I kept the L78, considering the monitory value of a L78 today. Seems to me a true enthusiasts never considers the value of rare items when it comes to the love of the sport and the ability to make power ;o)

Re: L78???

Everybody wants to know what they have EXCEPT they won't/don't post the letters that are at the end of the long VIN number string that will tell them!

NO LETTER'S, it's a GUESS!

That's what I was thinking earlier. Post the casting date of the block along with the codes stamped on the engine pad and we can tell you exactly what this block is out of. If the block has been decked and the numbers are gone, it's just another block.

Experience...... It's what you get when you didn't get what you wanted.
