Would this mean a true 39k motor

I have a 350 "010" block engine in a 77 Z28 showing 39,000 miles plus (under 40K) but near it. I had the intake off twice, most recently a few months ago. Both times it looked VERY clean in the lifter valley. Could alot of that be from oil splash? Have not dropped the pan as of yet, but can do so, (pan leaks a little bit). I'm assuming a 2-bolt main block. I might want to do a compression and leak down test if you think I should. Right now it runs great with a few mods, but plan on installing Vortec heads and a 214/221 cam and maybe 2000 stall on my car plus me 3900 lbs w/ 342 to 1 gears. I detail this in the performance section. Just want to be sure and this will like 90% street.

If your question is does it really have less than 40,000 miles your not going to be able to tell. If it's running good your worrying to much.

Thumbs up Re: Would this mean a true 39k motor

The only thing that I have to offer is that you install a set of Fel-Pro #1094, .015" thick headgaskets to up your poor CR a schosh, like 0.3 of a full point! Every little bit of CR help's.

And that cheap Summit generic cam you picked will be a dandy unless you want to spend more money and buy a good old Isky 264 Mega hy-cam instead! Or even the old Crane/Cam Dynamics 274 H06! It's 274 vs 264, but still only 218 vs 214 for the Isky at .050" lift!

ALL THREE CAM'S WILL DO FINE by me!

I do have a Isky 264/271 Mega hy-cam, which I think will be using w/ a pair of vortecs, that I have posted in the "performance" forum. I thought I could of been worrying too much. Just thought of getting some of you guys to "chime-in w/ your 2-cents.
