Heads too big?

I have bought a 434 small block Chev (Dart block) that needs rebuilding and am looking for a little advice.

This engine was used for racing and has a very big solid roller cam, Brodix Track 1 heads, single plane intake, etc. I want to rebuild it for street use - nothing wild - maybe a cam of about 230 @ .050" and .520 lift and 9.5 to 1 comp.

My question is: Should I use the Brodix Track 1 heads or are they too big for my planned application? I will probably go with a dual plane intake (maybe Air Gap RPM) and 750 carb. I will bore the engine to get 440 ci.

These heads have 221 cc intake runners, 67cc chambers, 2.08 / 1.60 valves.

221cc runners are already borderline on the small side for 434cid engine, definately wouldn't consider going smaller.. Also, a single-pattern cam will complement the great intake/exhaust flow ratio..

I'd also like to hear opinions on a cam choice for this 440 CI small block. I want strong torque and good power but not too radical. Street use only.

I have a 421 ci small block chevy with brodix track 1 heads, 10.25:1 compression with 750 demon carb. It runs great on the streets with lots of power when I need it. I'm running full roller valve train. I think the cam was 236/244 at .050.
