Re: Holley carb. ID

I'm not seeing any list 8243-2 on Holley's website (tech data) page!.....Are you sure that's the correct list number?

Wink Re: Holley carb. ID

It's a 4150 type.
Is it vacuum secondaries?
What kind of throttle linkage hookup/setup is on it?

It is most likely an over-the-counter replacement for one of the factory installed 4000 series carb.s used on many GM and Ford (and even American Motors and other odd manufactures' truck/industrial/marine) engines from the factory in the late 60's~early 70's.
Many of these showed up in the Holley catalogs during the Colt Industries ownership days as a wide application replacement.
They were sold through jobbers as replacements during the 80's and into the early 90's.
I've found several others with that numbering system on wrecking yard cars and trucks over the years.

If you find it has primary jets in the 68 or smaller range it is probably a late 60's application - it they are in the 72~76 (or greater) range it is most likely for a pre-70's application.

I'll check a couple other sources I have at home tonight to see if I can find it ...

Re: Holley carb. ID

Just to follow-up;
A quick check of info I have at home last night didn't turn up that exact carb.s specs - but, I did have a cross to an application as a replacement for the original #4773-1 carb used on 1972 Chevy C-60 truck w/HD 427 (tall deck) @650cfm ...
So... if it is a vacuum secondary unit w/the typical truck linkage set-up then that might possibly what it was originally sold as a replacement for.
