Have oil but no pressure

I just finished putting a 383 motor that I built in my 69í Camaro. The problem Iím having is no oil pressure and no oil getting to the gauge but Iím getting oil to the valve covers.
Thank You

Re: Have oil but no pressure

My first thought is the galley plug that is under the oil pressure fitting, was it removed?

Are you able to use a priming tool or old dist housing and shaft to prime? The grove on the dist body routes oil to the lifters.

Silly, but are you turning oil pump shaft in the right direction?

If the plug under the rear main cap is left out it will still have pressure but will bypass the oil filter once its full.

Re: Have oil but no pressure

If you're getting oil to the valvetrain then you do indeed have oil pressure!....Your oil pressure gauge will shoot up once the engine is running!
