Mark thank you for the info on my soon to be 496 build that now is a 498 build 454 70 over, Race Rite 270cc Oval with a comp XR274R (probably could have went with a more aggressive cam) and scats stroker forged crank & rods, SRP pistons, Crowers hppo lifters, Comp pro Magnum 1.7 rockers, 10.5 compression, air gap, 850 holly dpdf, msd 6al, super comp hooker 2x3.5 that Mike Lewis has help put a combo together with George from S & S Auto Motive (closer to me) also he goes way back as far as racing one of there drag cars... I just wanted to thank you again, i hope something out of this goes both you and Mikes way, you guys have great info on the Team Chevelle site and its a honor to have you share some info over here... What do you think she will see on hp & tq, cam 236/242 @50 639/646 lift rpm 2000 to 6200rpm. Also with 373 what would my time be considering a 4-speed 12 bolt 373 slapper bars and 9" slicks.

Re: What kind of times do you think this would run

Where is it coming from is my first question. Reputation means a lot more than parts in my opinion. the next question is what the hell are some of those parts doing in that lineup, the best thing to do is go down the list and itemize everything for each of your choices, because some of the generics on that listing are iffy, "Eagle Steel Crank" no grade listing or steel quality? and the GM Pink Rods, why not go with an Eagle Rotating Assembly and cut out the garbage of miss-matching and out of balancing due to overweighted rods. And anytime i see the, "You could spend XXX Dollars elsewear" crap, I can't help but think Infomercial, and nothing good ever came from those, not even vince and his sham wow. Another question is, What kind of rearend you have under there? anything less than well built 12 bolt and you could be a tow truck from Moserville. Engine sounds iffy to me, but hey, What would I know, I just have a Degree, an ASE patch, a big Goodwrench logo on my shirt, and a Chrysler one right next to it.

Yeah thats what my builder said, so i guess its 70 over can you get that 498, and he said next go around i could make it a 505 cid.. I think this is the piston http://www.jegs.com/i/SRP/867/212157/10002/-1

That piston ^ fits a 4.310 bore.With a 4.250 stroke..you have 496 cid.
To hit 505 cid with a 4.250 arm..you would require a 4.350(100 over)bore.
A .070" overbore will grab 498 cid.poking out a 454 to 4.350" is not unheard of if there is no core shift and the sonic check shows sufficient meat. Are you sure you are going .070" over?

George i will find out the details today, all i know is he said that it is 498 not 496 so what ever he did thats what he came up with, i guess that early 70s block has allot of meat on it... With my combo what do you think my car will run 69 Camaro...Thanks Skip

Your right its 0.70" over @ 4.320 he says the bolck can go a 100 over.
