Post 350 Engine - What do you guys think!?

http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/pts/998574025.html

I am going to offer 1800CAD.

He said the rods in the engine are temp, he took the rods from his truck and put them in the engine because his truck rods were bent. He is going to give a personal warranty that the engine will run. I have asked to have new rods but well see when I go check it out.. before i do, what do you guys think? looks like the manifold is a little higher then usually.

Also, there's no such thing as an "Edelbrock 650 competition carburetor"!

Re: 350 Engine - What do you guys think!?

I'm stumped! I live in vancouver, so hard to find an engine around here for a good price. Does anyone recommend a place to buy online or in washington states. Looking for a 350, 290+hp, hoping to get a carb to pan, want to pay around 3500-4000CAD, so about 3000 USD! I know i restrict myself, but not much more i can put towards the engine with a whole resto going on.

Re: 350 Engine - What do you guys think!?

You mean to tell me that you can't find a GOOD cheap 350 core engine out of a boneyard to hop up??

Look in the 'Burb's, Bread/Step Vans, School Busses and even Big Cars.. Gotta be a bunch of them around just sitting, waiting for a cheap, dingle-berry hone, Krylon overhaul and cam install that will do you fine on the cheap!!

Re: 350 Engine - What do you guys think!?

What do you mean the rods are temp? If you need to replace the rods, the engine will need to be torn down to do it. Why would anyone put the entire engine together just for a picture? I would definitely pass on this one. You can get far better deals than that. There are thousands of places to buy 350 engines. The cost will be dictated by what you want.
