Re: This may belong in BR??

So, the first cylinder is acting like a super charger? It kinda reminds me of a 2 stage air compressor.

Red face Re: This may belong in BR??

Geez, am I all wet on this one b/c I thought the exhaust was being used to push down the second cylinder.

SORRY, MY BAD!!

As stupid as this sound's, I envisioned roots blowing it and then running it backwards!

Super Charged 2 stroke with Valves - Bet the engine has lots of torque.

Re: This may belong in BR??

This was done years ago, way back in the very early 1950's, in two stroke engines, by an Italian named "Marcellina". There were more than one size engine built built by Austrian manufacturer Puch, a 125, a 175 and a 250 cc. It is called a Marcellina spit single design, and it ain't new.

This one is just an extension of that first design, with poppet valves instead of ports in the cylinder walls.

It, like the Puch engines, won't be a spectacular performer.

Regards,

Milton

No...but looks like the big three are introducing direct injection..pressurizing the fuel before injection to increase economy 20-30%. GM suppose to have it next year and F**d in 2012..

First I've heard of it....if you can't access the link I can post the text..
