69 Camaro Valve Cover Baffle

I have a pair of aluminum finned valve covers and the internal baffle has come off one of them. Any ideas on getting it back on? Looks like theres a ring which is pressed on from the outside which holds the baffle to the inside of the valve cover and the only way to get to it is to bend the louvers out of the way (or break the spot welds which hold the louvers) to have clear access to the inside of the baffle and stake the retaining ring. Dont want to damage the baffle if theres a better way to repair it.
Anyone had this problem?

I've had success with using a pop-rivit to refasten them before.
Pick a size that fits into the hole (@1/8" IIRC) and coat the rivit end with clear silicone, then install.

Also works for reattaching the oil covers on intakes and other such items ...

I would think you're referring to stamped valve covers? These are cast aluminum with the fins, which come with and without drippers. I wouldn't want to drill through the valve cover.
Unless you mean break the weld where the louver is welded inside the baffle and then reattach the louver to the inside of the baffle with a small rivet?

Ended up drilling the small spot welds inside the baffle (2 places), 1/8" drill worked, and removed the louver assy to gain clear access and re-press the retaining ring which holds the entire baffle assy inside the valve cover.
The louver assy has two small tabs, one on each side which are spot welded to the baffle body/can.
I will either rivet the louver assy back in place or re-spot weld.
