427 tall block

Ok, I have run into an ad on Craig's list for a 427 tall block. My question is will this fit into my Camaro with a 2" cowl hood? I figure someone out there knows a whole lot more than me and I will be asking a lot of questions trying to learn.
Cheers

Hood clearance is just one thing to consider with a tall block in a 1st Gen. Header fitment will be a daunting task as well.

Re: 427 tall block

Why is this? Are the heads so much bigger or wider?

Smile Re: 427 tall block

The taller deck raises the cylinder heads. Big block headers are designed to fit the exhaust ports at the stock "car" locations, not for the tall "truck" block.

Re: 427 tall block

Thanks for the info. I would/ will continue my looking for a big block other than a tall 427.
