396 Fuel Pump Pressure

How much fuel pressure should I have at the carb. I'm running a 396 & a Q-jet. I've only got 1 1/2 lbs of pressure. Is that to low ?

Re: 396 Fuel Pump Pressure

Yes, that's too low.
Between 5 & 8-1/2 psi is the factory spec on a stock pump on a 396-427.

Nov 68 Van Nuys. 327 floor-shift-auto, Frost Green and not much else when new.

Re: 396 Fuel Pump Pressure

Check your gauge. When my liquid filled one gets hot it will go down to that low.
