Back to basics......again:

When installing a new/different intake manifold on a small block:

1) i think fel-pro gaskets are generally the best but:

a) Do the intake gaskets (not the rail gaskets) need any adhesive on the head side? What about any silicone on the intake side?

b) rail gaskets vs. using a bead of silicone? Your thoughts/preferences and why?

2) What do you prefer as far as brand and type of adhesives/silicone sealers etc?

Any other suggestions/hints?

Permatex, nothing else, grey or black.

On milled heads/intake motors most will put a thin bead around the intake runners so if the parts aren't machined correctly they will be less likely to leak, I put a thin bead around all of mine, even HIGH dollar race engine builders do this.

Use a pencil sized bead of silicone on the block ends, let it sit for 20min or so.

The only Mustang I'd ever own is a Fender.

I use felpro permatorque gaskets, the blue ones.
I put 2 coats of sray on permatex copper coat on both sides.
I use a thick bead of silicone instead of the end gaskets.
