Change out a vac advance can

I am changing the vac advance can on my MSD 8361. Please tell me I don't have to pound out the pin on the lower sprocket? I will wreck it for sure.

Re: Change out a vac advance can

I believe if you move the snap ring up you can remove the old can, at least that is what i recall from the instructions for removing the can.

Re: Change out a vac advance can

I have the 72315 Moroso adjustable vac but it does not fit. Anyone know of a very low 8-9" or less vacuum or adjustable vac that fits this sucker?

Thanks!!

Re: Change out a vac advance can

Saw this in the MSD forums fwiw:

Echlin #VC-1810 advance can

Modified engines with more cam that generate less than 15” Hg. of vacuum at idle need a vacuum advance can that’s fully-deployed at least 1”, preferably 2” of vacuum less than idle vacuum level so idle advance is solid and stable; the Echlin #VC-1810 advance can (about $10 at NAPA) provides the same amount of advance as the stock can (15 degrees), but is fully-deployed at only 8” of vacuum, so there is no variation in idle timing even with a stout cam.

Re: Change out a vac advance can

Thanks but nothing seems to fit the MSD 8361. MSD only has two advance cans on Sumit and neither is adjustable. I might just have to drill out the adjustable I have and make it fit.
