Harmonic balancer bolt..needed?

Taking a look at some old pictures (5yrs) of my 327 and looking at the pulleys and assembly. I dont see a bolt holding on the balancer.
I have one on my 383 right now so I could hand turn it...
If it does go on, do you put the pully on the balancer then the balancer bolt?

Re: Harmonic balancer bolt..needed?

Hope this answers at least part of your question but sometime in the 60's they started putting bolt on harmonic balancer. Earlier cranks had a press fit with no hole for threards for a bolt.
