This is a very common problem on old chevys. Do a search and you will find more information. Headers can make the problem worse. There are several solutions ranging from a heat shield on your starter to changing the way the starter is wired. For the latter check out MADelectrical.com. They have some good info and wiring kits you can purchase to correct the problem.
