Power Steering

I have a 76 camaro that when I turn the steering wheel the power steering goes in and out. I bought the car without a engine but the power steering pump was hooked up to the steering box and still on the car It was pretty much dry of fluid but after I installed the engine I filled it to the correct level before starting it. There are no leaks present and once filled I ran the engine and turned the wheel back and forth for quite awhile. Does it sound like the pump is bad or that there is air in the system. Any help would be appreciated. There is no squeeling noise present when I turn the wheel. Thanks Rob

Re: Power Steering

Does sound like air, but if there is none, it sounds like the pump.

Jack the front wheels in the air and with the motor idling, turn gently lock to lock several times to bleed.
