No Timing Light with MSD Wires

Fired my 383 up today for the 1st time. First thing that went well and without a hitch in a long time. Idling well and I went to see the timing. Hooked up my light to the #1 plug and nothing. I have the MSD super conductive 8.5 wires. Has anyone had this issue with these wired in the past?
The light works, I used it earlier on a friends truck.

Re: No Timing Light with MSD Wires

I have the same Super Conductor wires and a Sunpro light. Not a problem.

Re: No Timing Light with MSD Wires

Also try hooking to a point on the wire that doesn't put the clamp against a grounded point or try pulling the wire out away from the engine so the clamp is away from it.

Re: No Timing Light with MSD Wires

Sounds like you may not have it grounded properly.

Had a similar issue...Are you connecting it near the spark plug? Try hooking it to wire number one closer to the dizzy...I am not sure why, but that worked perfectly for me...
