Leaking fuel filter canister, 69 Camaro 350/300

I just changed the GF-432 gas filter and cannot get the new unit to not leak. It leaks from both top and bottom. I have checked the fuel line ends and the canister and all looks good. I have used thread tape without success.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Dennis

If it was me I'd put the old one back on and see if it leaks once reinstalled. If not, then I'd say you have problem with the threads and/or flare on the new filter.

Tape won't work, they seal because of the flare. Either the filter is bad or the flares are bad.

My thanks for both of the responses. I installed the original canister and no leaks. One thing I did notice is that as I tighten the fuel lines into the new filter the feel is different. I called the vendor and they will replace the canister but I'm thinking that maybe I should order the 3 piece fuel line kit and replace both.

Thanks again.

I would just try the filter first.

I agree. Like I said in the original post if you put the old filter back on and it's fine the problem is with the filter, not the lines and their flares. You probably got a bad filter. If the new filter has the same problem try a different vendor for your GF-432. There are some good ones out there and some bad ones (replacement GF-432's).
